I am in complete agreement with you, being away from home and away from a decent cup of tea is almost enough to put me off travelling. I think it pays, however, to do a little online research before setting off, in the hope of locating some sort of tearoom or establishment that claims to know how to make decent tea (i.e. something better than a cup of hottish water with a Lipton's yellow label teabag on the side). I like the idea of the picnic tea hamper but there are so many problems associated with it, such as the water, the weight of all the equipment, finding somewhere to plug your kettle in, etc. I have sometimes come to the conclusion that I must simply forego what I consider to be a proper cup of tea while on my travels, and make the most of what the locals drink, just accepting the pale imitation of what they call tea for the duration of my trip. Coming home to a decent cup of tea is, after all, one of the highlights of foreign travel.

In my experience, there is a lot that's good about tea and, as you say, it's not only about the flavour. The very idea of a cup of tea is enough to perk me up, and then things just get better and better with making it, or having it made for me, holding it in my hand, and then taking the first sip and revelling in its comforting warmth. Even if some convincing research were released about the dangers of tea consumption, I doubt it would ever make me change my mind. There are just too many good points about tea.

Dearest Lahloo Tea,

hope all is well in Bristol tea world - delighted to mention your delicious iced tea. I did include this one even though I saw your Darjeeling summer punch - truth be told, Darjeeling is far from a favourite tea - I know, an almost heretic statement may from a tea blogger.
